The story

A little history.

Ranthambore was once a hunting reserve of the Maharajas of Jaipur. It became part of Project Tiger in 1973 and a national park in 1980, and its tigers became famous for being seen in daylight among lakes and ruins.

Above the forest stands the 10th-century Ranthambore Fort, part of the UNESCO Hill Forts of Rajasthan. The park is also home to leopards, sloth bears, crocodiles, deer and hundreds of bird species.

No one can promise a sighting, but with three or four safaris your chances are good.

Jeep or canter: which is better?

Jeeps are quieter and more flexible. Canters are cheaper and suit larger groups.
