The story

A little history.

For many years, Rajasthan Tourism held an Elephant Festival in Jaipur on the eve of Holi, with painted elephants in procession, elephant polo and folk performances.

The festival has not been held regularly in recent years, following concerns about the welfare of the elephants. Holi itself is still celebrated joyfully across Jaipur, with colours, music and bonfires on the night before.
